REACH
Artist: Clinton Naina
Clinton Naina is an established contemporary artist whose work explores the impact of European settlement on First Nations Australians. Belonging to multiple Indigenous language groups (Meriam Mer, Erub, Ugar peoples of the Torres Strait and the Ku Ku people of Far North Queensland), Clinton is well placed to challenge the dominant white male view of history, taking the particular perspective of the black and the feminine. He has a multifaceted practice including video, textile, fashion design, installation, painting and performance. While his work often has a message, it not only challenges but provides hope ā powerfully presenting the richness and beauty of his culture.
