SHIFTING ELEMENTS AND CAMP DOGS

Artist: Kamahi Djordon King

Kamahi Djordon King and their alter ego Constantina Bush made new work for this exhibition. Delving into the sculptural form, the artist honours his treasured late dog, Tahna, representing the playful expression of the camp dogs in Katherine, Northern Territory, where Kamahi comes from. The creation of some of his beautiful paintings in a time-lapse video is a note to the idea of ‘authenticity’ in Aboriginal art. Kamahi began sketching and painting at a young age, but did not begin to paint on canvas until his twenties after pursuing a career in the performing arts.
