A response to TREATMENT a project at Melbourne Water Treatment Plant.

TREATED sits alongside the WEST OF EDEN exhibition (with artist Bindi Cole Chocka) and presents a curated exhibition that documents a body of work done on site at the Western Treatment Plant. Curated by David Cross from Deakin University, TREATMENT presents six artists who made site-specific work for specific locations on the property to be viewed on a bus tour around the plant. Curated by Cameron Bishop, TREATED allowed visitors to reflect on the works completed onsite and the practices of the artists, and consider ideas around process, elimination and purification. There are tensions to explore as sewerage is transformed into liquid gold (water), while ideas take form through material processes to become artworks.
