An inspiring perspective on a place of waste
Artists: Karen Casey, Steven Rhall
Art made from a residency at a tip. What a load of rubbish! At a time when our level of consumption is exacerbated by rapid population growth and widespread environmental disorder, Wyndham Art Gallery invited artists Karen Casey and Steven Rhall to undertake a three-month residency at the Refuse Disposal Facility in Werribee. WADDA LOADA is their response to this unusual opportunity. What others see as an eyesore has inspired these artists, who have produced videos, installations and sculpture; Karen has even made what she calls ‘Tip Totes – ’tote bags with images of her stunning artwork.
How can waste be so beautiful?Kathy
